Teaching

The air is for all of us...

An artist at the fore

The technique behind aerial fabric comes from the technique of corde lisse. These techniques were created at the Centre National des Arts du Cirque (CNAC) de Chalons en Champagne in the late 90s, by a small group of students working on these new disciplines, of which Fred Deb’ was a member. She was one of the forerunners of this art, and has continued to contribute to its evolution. Later, she used her empirical knowledge of the apparatus from her research as a basis for the elaboration of her teaching method.

Her experiences

International teaching

Her abilities as a teacher and the quality of her instruction are recognized internationally:

ADF, Boulder Aerial Dance Festival (Colorado, USA):
Every year since 2005, assisted by Jacques Bertrand (professional dancer), Fred has been invited to the Aerial Dance Festival.
She gives classes in aerial fabric to different levels and leads a research laboratory in performance. She also offers a hoop and ring class. Additionally, she leads individual working sessions for professionals (technical and artistic analysis of their work presented on DVD).

Aerial Dance Forum (Newcastle, England)
Fred Deb’ was chosen to be the principal teacher for the first edition of this Forum in October 2007, assisted by Jacques Bertrand.  Together or individually, they taught different classes: floor conditioning (warming-up, stretching), aerial fabric and hoop technique, aerial lab (improvisation, experimentation on aerial fabric), and dance.   The second edition of the Festival will take place in 2008.

Tokyo Aerial Dance Academy (Japan)
In 2005, Fred taught aerial fabric to the students of this professional training school.

In France
She developed her teaching method in Paris between 1998 and 2002 in the context of weekly classes.  There, she taught numerous professionals in private classes.

Today based in Saint-Nazaire, she teaches at the circus school “Le Tilt” in Nantes, gives workshops, and responds to specific requests for classes.
