Choreographer

« Motion is emotion »,
Merce Cuningham

Since establishing her company, « Drapés aériens » in 2001, Fred Deb’ has created many pieces in collaboration with Jacques Bertrand. This dancer by training is her assistant, her partner, and her technical director.

Her philosphy
Emotion comes from perfecting the movement which is to be seen.

Her principle of creativity: Fred Deb’ concerns herself with the fluidity of movement, the seeming effortlessness of grace, and the purity of gestures.

Her artistic objectives:
  • a search for aesthetic beauty, in which the body is seen as a moving sculpture, a work of art in which.   Gestural language must be precise and clear in order to achieve perfection.
  • an exploration of space, weightlessness and falling. Space is an environment in which everything seems possible. At times spatial themes enrich her work, as in Aerial Mic Mac which was inspired by the world of superheroes and American comics (such as X men, or the Matrix).

Her cultural world : her sources of inspiration include Butoh (contemporary Japanese dance) by Sankai Juko , and modern dance from choreographers Lucinda Childs, William Forsythe, Pina Bausch, Wim Vandekeybus
